November was established as National Accordion Month by the American Accordionists’ Association. In celebration, Acme Accordion School sponsors a special concert presenting the many genres that can beperformed by the accordion. Classical – Ethnic – Pop and more.
This year, our very own Ensemble of Hope will be featured as the main guest artist. Also performing will be the Westmont Philharmonia Accordion Orchestra and the Westmont Accordion Club. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be collected to cover venue costs, plus a donation to the ALS Hope Foundation.
The Ensemble of Hope was formed in 2019 to perform in a benefit concert for the ALS Hope Foundation,
and its name was chosen to complement the group’s original purpose. All members have pursued non-musical careers but simply love to present accordion music to the public. The ensemble’s repertoire includes show tunes, light classical compositions, Latin songs, waltzes, pop standards, patriotic tunes, holiday favorites—and, of course—polkas. Current members of the ensemble are John Modrowsky, Denise Szabo, Robert Patterson, Rosemarie Cavanaugh, Erika Brito Perez, and John Andrews. The Westmont Accordion Club (founded 1970) and the Westmont Philharmonia Accordion Orchestra (founded 1960) are performing on the program. Ava Yip (15 years old) will be featured in a performance of the Concerto in G Major by Curt Mahr.
Concert attendees and participants will enter the school through the entrance located across from parking space #117, in the back of the building. Easiest entrance to the school is from Cuthbert Boulevard.
