Earlier this month, stakeholders from our @pcori_org PCORI Institute Funded Engagement Award Program gathered to discuss our project "Convening to Devleop A Patitent Centered Resarch Agenda for ALS." This project developed a skilled community of patients, caregivers, clinicians and others equipped to engage as partners in all phases of patient-centered research with the aim to create a research agenda that prioritizes the needs of people living with this disease and their caregivers. Celebrate National Accordion Month with the ALS Hope Foundation's Ensemble of Hope! The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be collected to cover venue costs, plus a donation to the ALS Hope Foundation. Also performing will be the Westmont Philharmonia Accordion Orchestra and the Westmont Accordion Club. Concert attendees and participants will enter the school through the entrance located across from parking space #117, in the back of the building. She challenged people to think differently. She inspired them to care more deeply. And through some of the hardest moments imaginable, she still found a way to make people laugh. Encouraging news for the FUS-ALS community. Otsuka and Ionis Pharmaceuticals have announced positive topline results from the Phase 3 FUSION trial of ulefnersen, an investigational RNA-targeted medicine for FUS-ALS, a rare, often rapidly progressive genetic form of ALS. The study met its primary endpoint, showing a statistically significant improvement over placebo on a combined measure of function and survival. Secondary endpoints were also supportive, and the treatment was generally well tolerated. FUSION is the first placebo-controlled trial targeting the underlying genetic cause of FUS-ALS. Ulefnersen is still investigational and not yet approved. The companies plan to discuss the results with the FDA and other health authorities.
